about

Singer, cellist and composer Astrid Nora is finally back again with Where Did Nora Go after a 5-year recording break, where she has been dedicating her life to her premature twin girls. The new EP from Where Did Nora Go 'Womb Of Life' will be released on Celebration Records 22.11, and ‘I’m Still Here’ is the 2nd single to emerge.

The EP is recorded live with Jacob Haubjerg on bass (Savage Rose, Kira Skov) and Anders Bach Pedersen on drums and synth (MØ, Irah, Bisse, Icecream Cathedral) and of course Astrid Nora herself on mesmerizing and outstanding vocals + this time primarily piano instead of the cello.

The EP is produced by wizard Brian Batz (Sleep Party People).
Astrid Nora sang 'I'm Still Here' in one take – no cuts and no edits.

She explains about ‘I’m Still Here’:
“This song came to me one day - complete, from beginning to end. It was still a very tough time, and ‘I’m still here’ is obviously a very emotional song. Having gone through a lot of anguish and pain, having emerged on the other side. Still alive. Bruised but still standing. Perhaps even stronger.
I think all of us at some point in life go through really hard times. It’s part of life and part of our learning process.

For me – I didn’t know how hard those times had been on me till I was on the other side. Coming close to losing my premature daughters, not knowing if they’d survive... Now – after we’ve all emerged safe and sound - I believe this experience has strengthened me, opened me up to a much greater love and knowing and washed away some of the shallow aspects of the ego and everyday life. And for that I am deeply grateful.

‘I’m Still Here’ is about persevering, surviving and about gratitude. There is this innate resilient lifeforce in all of us. We are all still here. For a while anyway. Damn. We better appreciate it while it lasts.”

lyrics

I am still here

In spite of being invisible to the eye

I am still here

Altered am I because of all

Altered am I

I am still breathing

In spite of you sucking life out of me

You make me feel more like living

Than I’ve ever done before

And in spite of all the trouble, all the fear I hold

In spite of all the dread of losing – I’m still here

I’m still here

I am

The Steinway Grand Piano has always been a centerpiece in her home, and Astrid Nora started playing and singing her own songs early on. ... more
